Spotlight: What are Michelin Energy tyres?

Michelin Energy Tyres

For decades, Michelin has built a reputation as one of the tyre industry’s great innovators. From motorsport-inspired performance to everyday driving comfort, the brand has consistently driven tyre technology forward.

And that’s why you’re probably already familiar with Michelin’s highly-acclaimed Pilot Sport and Primacy range — which often set the benchmark in their respective categories.

Now, though, Michelin is taking that proven performance a step further with the introduction of its new Energy tyre lines. Designed as an evolution of those award-winning series, the new tyres retain the handling, stability, and comfort drivers expect while introducing advanced efficiency-focused technologies.

Intrigued? Join us as we explore exactly what Michelin’s new Energy range is, how it works, who it’s for, and how it compares to the product ranges you already know and trust.

What is Michelin’s new Energy range?

Michelin’s new Energy range builds on the strengths of two of the brand’s most popular tyre families with the introduction of Pilot Sport 5 Energy and Primacy 5 Energy.

Rather than replacing the existing lines, these Energy versions retain the core characteristics of Pilot Sport and Primacy but enhance their efficiency and longevity.

At the heart of the Energy concept is lower rolling resistance – the amount of energy required for a tyre to roll along the road. The lower this resistance, the less effort the engine or battery needs to move the vehicle, which can help reduce fuel consumption in petrol or diesel cars and maximise driving range in electric vehicles.

In practice, this Energy concept is adapted to suit different driving styles and vehicle types. Where the Pilot Sport 5 Energy brings greater efficiency to Michelin’s performance-focused tyres without losing that sporty feel, the Primacy 5 Energy focuses more on everyday comfort, wet-weather safety and long tyre life. Together, they represent Michelin’s effort to combine familiar performance with the growing demand for more efficient driving.
